All Key Stage 1 (Reception, Years 1 & 2) children are entitled to Free School Meals.   If your child is Year 3 and above and is entitled to Free School Meals please contact the Office.

Children may stay for a school meal (either hot or a packed lunch), bring a packed lunch or go home for lunch.

School Meals:    Meals are cooked in our own kitchens and at present over 50% of children have a school meal.  The cost of a school meal is £2.00 per day (£10.00 per week.) Meals should be paid for online (contact the School Office for details),  in cash (the correct amount only please) or cheque. Cheques should be made payable to Milldene Primary School. Please enclose payment in a sealed envelope and send it into school on a Monday morning. The envelope should be clearly marked “Dinner Money” with your child’s name and class written on it. Please be advised that we are unable to provide a meal without prior payment.  If a child is absent from school when a dinner has been paid for, a credit will be placed in the child's acount.

Packed Lunch:   Children bringing packed lunches should have a proper lunch container, which is clearly marked with their name. Please note that hot drinks, glass bottles and fizzy drinks are not permitted. We try to encourage healthy eating, and therefore sweets and chocolates are not permitted.

Go home for lunch:  Very few children go home for lunch.

Please note, children who stay at school during lunchtime are under the supervision of mid-day assistants who have the same effective powers as the teaching staff at these times.

We encourage healthy eating. Throughout the school children are provided with healthy snacks at break time (with a small charge to parents of £2 per half-term).

We are aware of the need for children to have access to a drink during lesson time. Children may bring a plastic bottle of water (named please) to keep in the classroom.
